Eheim 2262 setup

MFK Member. Dec 31, 41 11 8 Plan to use this filter on a gallon I plan to get soon but in the meantime I want to get it going so I'm temporarily setting it up on my 90 gallon setup.

I was looking for the largest canister filter and researched for a couple weeks and found that the eheim seem to be perfect in every way. I am a big fan of eheim as I have been using their filters for many many years just nothing this big. It was between this and the fx6 filter and I decided to try this out first then maybe the fx6 down the road. I will post pictures as I go Aug 18, 47 31 Arlington. I have one on a 4' g and it is definitely 2x what is needed, but I utilize the extra flow to keep maintenance at a minimum.

Awesome filters that last forever. No experience on the fx6's. Old filter is temporarily kicked out. Hooked up. Reactions: HarleyK. I wanted to put the intake and out on opposite sides I guess what they want you to do it out both on one side according to the lengths they supply you with. The sound is fairly quiet but due to the size of the pump and the flow amount I'm guessing there is no such thing as dead silent.

To give an example this is hardly noticeable during the day when kids are running around and tv is on but when it's late at night tv is off and kids are asleep you can hear that "hum". I like quiet I mean very very quiet so I plan to try that gel pad mod to the base of the pump.

The flow is good. Its strong but manageable. I was worried it would be too strong for a 90 gallon but I would say you could put this on a 75 gallon and still be ok. I did remove my tunze powerhead though and that was pushing gph and I thought that was just right. What I did was just aim the spray at at a degree angle slightly downward from water surface level it was a nice steady ripple on the surface.

Keep in mind this is a cichlid tank so naturally cichlids do like some flow. A top-placed pump is, arguably, better than a side-placed pump as it does not add to the footprint of the unit. Again, similar to the FX6, the Eheim features a drain which allows the user to empty the filter making it lighter and maintenance easier. While the FX has media trays that create concentric circles, the Eheim has very simple and thin separators to divide different types of media.

Sure, the FX6 creates directed flow and easier maintenance, but the offers total customizability, i. Well, simply put, the impeller turns and water is sucked out of the aquarium and pumped back into the aquarium. Simple as that, right? Well, yes and no. The way the FX6 and the work is slightly different, and in an interesting way.

The Eheim is more of a traditional linear canister filter; i. However, bear in mind that the difference in price is a major contributing factor to why I prefer the FX6 over the Eheim And next is a video from well-known YouTuber PondGuru. I love his video because he goes into detail about how the FX6 works and gives you a direct look at interior, the trays, and the way they direct the flow. But, there are some really good videos about the out there.

However, as I say, prices change all the time, so check the current prices on Amazon right now. Fluval FX6 Vs Eheim Features Considering the fact that flow rate and canister size are comparable, perhaps the different features of the two filters might help you decide.
