Great Adventures: Xmas Edition is rated 3. Your scientist father is trapped on a mountain and you have to rescue him before it's too late! I nearly didn't buy this game because it was so poorly reviewed, but I'm so glad I didn't listen! Visually, it was as impressive as any type of Sims game and I adored the festive scenery. My favorite part was decorating the tree on the inside and inflatables on the outside. I'm not sure why people thought this game was too short.
It took me at least half a Saturday to finish and I can't imagine wanting a game to go on longer than that. Perhaps some people rushed through and didn't realize that there are 90 items to collect butterflies, ladybugs, goldfish, Chinese lanterns and logs for the fire. Then, there are endless dog bones to collect for hints, which you will definitely need, plus all the items it takes to complete the mission.

So it's more for kids but I had fun. No walkthrough but discovered it is like great adventures lost in the mountains, there is a walk through for that so I suggust you use that.

If you have the other great adventures game then it is a LOT alike but if you really loved it and wanted more then I recommend this to you. Manage your team and make sure they are brave and strong enough to survive a Great Adventure! Only demo'd a bit, confusing: this one has the same intro story , the same tasks in the first 2 'levels' as the first one Great Adventures - Lost in Mountains. Which I found quite entertaining, but apart from a Santa and a present outside the hotel and the xmas tree inside I haven't seen anything different yet.
Disappointing, I would have liked a sequel. I just finished playing the demo. Delightful and easy to play. I'm not familiar with the original, so I can't compare. This one has a Christmas tree with some ornaments to find, but that's as Christmas-y as the demo got - which is fine for me. It appears to be the same game, just with some added Christmas decorations! Okay so I played 50 minutes of the demo of the original one. Enjoyed replaying most of it, but got bored after the 50 minutes. Yes, the same, except the original has bags of potato chips you find, while the Xmas one has Christmas tree ornaments.
