In your Network and Sharing Center, under Advanced Sharing options, you can disable media streaming from your computer by clicking "Block All". It will no longer advertise the availability of media streaming on your network. Below that there is a check-box to Disable Future Notifications. However, as I mentioned in my initial post, I've already performed those steps.
These devices show up even if I have media streaming disabled though the whole system. My problem is that when I open my xbox for example, every user on my PC is showing up as a media server. I don't want that. These aren't actual media devices, they're users on my system that Windows has created automatically, even though media streaming is not enabled.
Could it be something related to the uuid? For each user it is different. Maybe disabling that will help? Again, I don't understand why this even an issue, my Windows 8.
This seems like a bug. I would suggest you to configure Windows media player network sharing service and check. Please follow these steps:. Right click "Windows media player network sharing service" and click properties.
You may stop the service and check. I don't want to completely disable the service though if I can help it, unless you're saying that if I disable it, or put it on manual, it will activate for my user only? I'm only interested in doing exactly what it is I want to do, I can find workarounds.
