I have had a bluebird checking account t for 8 years. Had a regular debit card for years. Having had a bad experience Greenlight when trying to report fraud, I dropped them and went to Bluebird. I have 2 kids. My wife calls one of the kids and says, "while you're out" or "pick it out online and buy it and I'll pay you back".

So she needs access to transfer money from her account a second "funding" source to whichever kid spent money on a non-allowance item she approved. Ah ha! Only one user login AND it requires voice authorization by me should she need to call in to Bluebird, even to report fraud. No scheduled payments, singular funding, no parental more than 1 options for managing the kids accounts. So much for teaching them money management. I put a customer's money on one to buy parts, I put it up and didn't use it for 5 days.

I contacted them, so far nothing. Now I have to replace this money. I am not the only one this had happened to. Their security is terrible as well considering I've had my info stolen twice.. I just dropped them and went to Amex Serve instead.

The Bluebird card was a few months old at the time and I'm a fan of American Express so I gave it a shot. Nearly 8 years later I'm still extremely happy with it. There have been several times when I had questions about holds and customer service was always available to discuss it with me. These people saying bad things about the card are idiots and needed to try the Suze Orman card. Yes people, American Express isn't accepted everywhere but if you are using the Bluebird card the truth is "you" aren't accepted everywhere either!

This card is amazing from it's lack of fees to it's simplicity and it's suited me fine for the better part of a decade.

Blaming the card is like blaming your car for gas prices. American Express charges a larger fee to use and many businesses don't want to pay that fee. This has been common knowledge since ! If you return something to a store that you previously purchased?

They hold your money for 8 business days claiming they are again, required to do so by the merchant. Their customer service is horrible! None of them speak intelligent English and they sound like they are all working from home! Do not fall for their BS! Find a different card!!! I don't like using my debit card attached to my bank online, as unwanted charges has happened, and this was my reasoning to purchasing this card.

I purchased bluebird online. Got the card within a week and have used it for 2 years. I love the fact I can send money to my son who also has a bluebird card for free.

If you load your funds up at Walmart the transaction is free and funds are available immediately. Many people get online and bash products that they have not read the fine black and white print on.. READ some of the instructions and warnings and you can avoid a pitfall if the card doesn't meet your needs.

I shop with it online, have reserved hotel rooms. I only had one hold with my first check deposit and once again I knew it would be on hold, just like the regular bank does, as that is a security feature to make sure they are not getting a dummy check, and that is absolute protocol Again some people should read the fine print first.
